REMUS sound for safety as a major contribution to road safety
2nd Place Austrian National Mobility Award for REMUS
2nd place in the category “Safety E-Mobile” award goes to REMUS – The World leader in Sportexhausts. The Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and safety honoured the project “REMUS-Sound for Safety” on the 17.11. 2011. The new safety sound developed by the Austrian Family business brings a fundamental contribution to transport safety and proves a point of the possibly dangers of E-Mobile vehicles.

We see more and more electric and Hybrid vehicles on the road and at the same time, we hear less and less. We are all used to hearing the mechanical sound of a normal combustion vehicle on the street and while driving; these sounds deliver us important information. Let us think about starting and accelerating, but also about the feeling in regards to the actual speed” says Angelika Kresch, CEO REMUS Innovation.
“Those are reasons why we have been concentrating on the development of a safety sound system over the last 2 years. Our extensive “sound design know how” experience gathered over many years of research and development makes this project possible and allows us to find the correct balance between a safety-related sound, a comfortable sound and one that does not cause noise disturbance” adds Ing. Otto Kresch, CEO REMUS Innovation.
The safety-related required communication between pedestrians and vehicle drivers is currently mainly limited to the acoustic mechanical generated sound. REMUS-Sound for Safety will be available for retrofitting E-vehicles and in the future, be made available for E-mobile solutions within OEM projects to ensure a safety sound is present. The REMUS core competence lies within psychoacoustics as sport exhausts are not only developed with noticeable power increases and optics but also featuring a characterized sound to match. This individual sound is specifically designed for each vehicle using special calibration techniques and with reflection and absorption type muffler internals. Generally speaking, there are many similar aspects for the development of sound generators within E-mobility.
